Abstract
According to the statistics of the World Health Organization, six to seven percent of all pregnancies are affected by accidents, and motor vehicle accidents are the main cause of fetal death worldwide. However, little research has been done on examining the amount of damage caused to the passenger and his fetus caused by a car accident. In this research, the effect of car speed parameters when hitting an obstacle, week of pregnancy, sitting position and passenger angle on fetal biomechanical parameters, including acceleration and force on the fetus, has been investigated. For this purpose, the model of one half of the car along with the seat, pregnant passenger and fetus has been developed using bandgraph method and simulated in MATLAB software. The simulation was carried out at different speeds of the car in collision with the obstacle, the angles of the seat and the back of the seat, and different weeks of pregnancy, and biomechanical parameters were obtained. The results of the simulation have shown that the upright position of the back seat and the increase in the speed of the collision of the car with the obstacle increases the damage to the fetus of the pregnant passenger.
